Hotel Icon to Launch an Iconic New Restaurant...
After a four million dollar transformation, Hotel Icon’s VOICE restaurant debuted April 5. Under the direction of Executive Chef Michael Kramer, VOICE’s food will showcase South Texas regional cuisine while the restaurant’s newly remodeled interior will showcase its historic bank building location.
Kramer has worked with legendary chefs like Dean Fearing, Wolfgang Puck and Roland Passot. At VOICE he is channeling his incredible creativity into regionally specific food - Gulf Coast seafood, South Texas wild game and fresh, local produce direct from area farmer’s markets. His goal is to initiate culinary trends locally rather than slavishly following the lead of the East and West Coast.
VOICE, with its cutting-edge food and elegant surroundings, promises to become not only an outstanding restaurant but also a destination.
Openings:
- The Grove: Tranquilly situated in Discovery Green, The Grove focuses on American Rustic cuisine. Operated by the Schiller Del Grande Restaurant Group, the menu was designed by The Grove’s Executive Chef Ryan Pera and famed chef Robert Del Grande. Try the ceviche or the duck balls with mustard sauce. How about a skirt steak with The Grove’s own take on chili cheese fries? In addition to the excellent wine list, the restaurant’s inventive cocktails are not to be missed. Ginger Margarita anyone?
- Bells & Whistles Cafe: Just a block away from Minute Maid Park, Bells & Whistles Cafe is a great place to grab lunch or a bite to eat before a day game. Enjoy classic burgers along with Southern favorites like peach tea and fried catfish. Don’t forget to sample the cobbler of the day.
- Ponte Vecchio: Named after a famous medieval bridge in Florence, Ponte Vecchio may sound like pricey fine dining but it’s actually a perfect place for a quick, delicious and affordable lunch. Everything is prepared from scratch by Florentine chef Dante Calzini using high quality ingredients to create delicious and healthy Italian cuisine.
